Report 2014 Ranch Sale & Social

The 4th edition was held on June 7, 2014 in Yamhill, OR. Skies were blue, temperatures comfortably in the mid 70’s and attendance was strong. In addition to a nice set of Longhorn cattle visitors enjoyed great food, camaraderie and a fine glass of Oregon Pinot Noir.

32 out of 35 lots sold for an average of $1,600. This sale average is respectable, even more so under the consideration of a low consignment fee of $75 per lot and a moderate sale commission. Two pass out lots at their respective last bid would have pushed the sale average to $1,780. Several first time buyers can be reported. The four highest selling lots all stayed in the great state of Oregon which can be interpreted as a sign that local breeders see value in adding valuable genetics to their herd in order to stay competitive on a bigger stage.

The high seller was a 2009 Tejas Star daughter - ST Winter Star - consigned by St. Hilaire Longhorns, Yamhill OR and purchased by Alex Dees, CR Ranches from Harper, OR for $3,000.

2nd highest selling lot was a 2012 JH Big Rigg daughter out of a full Boomerang CP sister – JH Sassy Riggs – consigned by Justin & Julie Hansen, Paskenta CA and purchased by Scott & Amelia Picker, Dundee OR for $2,900.

3. 7-11 Demand Legacy, consigned by St. Hilaire Longhorns and purchased by Mark & Renee Scott, Burns OR for $2,650.

4. EOT Super Princess, consigned by Warren & Cathy Dorathy, Sanger CA and purchased by Scott & Amelia Picker, Dundee OR for $2,900.

5A. RC Alexis J, consigned by RC Larson Longhorns, Tillamook OR and purchased by Nick & Shilo Noyes, Fruitland ID.

5B. JH Rangers Legend, consigned by Justin & Julie Hansen and purchased by Justin Risenmay, Redmond OR for $2,500.

7A. ECR Julio’s Cinnamon, consigned by Daniel & Angelina Fey, purchased by Rod & Kelli Olsen, Roosevelt UT for $2,400.

7B. CR Sage Sparrow, consigned by CR Ranches, Harper OR and purchased by Drew & Michelle Hancock, Kettle Falls WA for $2,400.

9. Smoky Helena, consigned by Daniel & Angelina Fey and purchased by Kay Bumguardner, Rifle CO for $2,000.

10. JH Tammy, consigned by Justin & Julie Hansen and purchased by Rod & Kelli Olsen, Roosevelt, UT for $1,950.

Consignors came from Oregon, California, Idaho and Nevada; buyers came from Oregon, California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Washington.
